INCA TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU
|
Hiking the Inca Trail
to the ruins of Machu Picchu
11 Day Tour with Discovery Trek from $1589
*Adventure Introduction note*
For the truly adventurous, the quest to Machu Pichu
is an exhilarating experience filled with dazzling
natural views of the mighty Andes Mountains. You will
never forget camping at remote Inca tambos (way
stations) & walking on the exact same trail as Inca
messengers did centuries ago. The extreme high
altitudes of the hike (Cuzco at 11,300 ft. & one pass
at over 13,500 ft.) make preparation for this
demanding trip imperative, which is why we include 3
nights in Cuzco for acclimation prior to the trek. This
additional time in Cuzco is enough for most travelers &
usually considered a minimum orientation training or prep
to do this expedition. There are important factors to
consider if you are contemplating to take the Inca Trail
trip, such as age, health, & overall stamina or fitness.
You should also prepare at least 1 month in advance
with a regimen of rigorous hiking for 5 miles 3 times a
week (not kidding). However, none of these factors
fasten acclimatization. Only time matters. As a general
rule, you need at least 1 day for each 1,000 feet over
10,000 feet altitude. Without this plan, the result in
even experienced travelers is usually nausea or altitude
sickness, which can cause mild to severe flu-like
symptoms & can completely ruin your trip. After the
necessary precautions, everyone who visits this magical
place are just thrilled to have completed the final steps
of the mighty trek to enter the Royal Gate at the very
top of Machu Picchu to marvel in astonishment at the
grandeur of the sacred site below.
