ITINERARY
TRAVEL WITHIN SOUTH AMERICA ONLY!
DAY 1:ARRIVE LIMA-Begin your quest into the Land of the Incas in which you transfer to your
selected hotel.
DAY 2:WHILE IN LIMA-Enjoy a tour of Lima, the infamous City of Kings, combining the modern
& colonial highlights with a visit to the world famous Museum of Anthropology & Archaeology to really
get the traditional acquaintance of pre-Inca & Inca cultures,
DAY 3:FROM LIMA TO CUZCO-Morning transfer to the airport for your one-hour flight to
Cuzco. The remainder of your day is at your leisure left to explore the sights,sounds, & smells of this
enchanted city which acclimate to an altitude of over 11,000 feet. The night life almost always offers
an abundance of international travelers from all over who come to experience this amazing place by
letting loose at plenty of night-clubs,bars, & dance-clubs in the heart of downtown before hiking up the
wondrous trails in the morning.
DAY 4: CUZCO TO MACHU PICCHU- Your journey begins. Depart by train arriving at the foot
of Machu Picchu. Mini-buses follow a serpentine road to the heights of the ruins. Take a walking tour
with your expert guide & a small group. You & the lucky few who will spend the night here will have a
few more hours to explore the site after the major crowds have returned to Cuzco.
Those who select the Deluxe category hotels will overnight at the Sanctuary Lodge just outside of the
gate of Machu Picchu & enjoy a traditional Peruvian lunch & dinner. The hotels in the Tourist and first
class categories are in the quaint village of Aguas Calientes at the base of the ruins.
*NOTE: In Tourist category, the renovated "Backpacker" train is quoted & lunch is not provided. In
first Class & Deluxe categories, the deluxe VistaDome train is quoted & lunch is provided at the
Sanctuary Lodge adjacent to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
DAY 5: MACHU PICCHU BACK TO CUZCO-Continue trekking Machu Picchu before heading
back the mountain by bus to catch your afternoon train bound for Cuzco.*NOTE: Transfers from
Aguas Calientes to & from Machu Picchu & entrance fees are NOT included on this day.
DAY 6: WHILE IN CUZCO-You will embark on a motorcoach tour of "colonial" Cuzco, including
the Temple of the Sun, Cathedral & Plaza de Armas. Following that tour, climbing into the hills
surrounding Cuzco to visit the Inca ruins of K'Kenko, Pucapucara, Tambo Machay & the great stone
fortress of Sacsayhuaman.
DAY 7: CUZCO-LIMA-SANTIAGO,CHILE-You return back to Lima, where you will be helped
with a connecting flight to Santiago, Chile. Evening arrival & transfer to your selected hotel.
DAY 8: SANTIAGO CITY TOUR- Half day motorcoach tour of the the pristine city of
Santiago, visiting Santa Lucia Hill & San Cristobal Hill right before making a stop at Bellavista,
Santiago's Bohemian "hip" district, where you will find a diverse variety of art galleries, artesans,
restaurants, & local theaters.
DAY 9: FROM SANTIAGO TO PUERTO MONTT (PUERTO VARAS)-Fly southbound to
the gateway to Chile's Lake District, "Puerto Montt, which is on the Relancavi Estuary. Then drive
alongside Costanera Highway overlooking the scenic vista of Puerto Montt while touring the quaint
fishing village of Angelmo with it's open-air crafts market. You then continue on to Puerto Montt's
sister city of Puerto Varas which lies just on the shores of Lake Llanquihue, & overnight in your choice
of hotel.
DAY 10: 2-DAY LAKE CROSSING (AVAILABLE ALL YEAR)- Start this overland journey
through pine forests, across traditional farms, & over vast lakes on the way to Argentina. Take a bus
beyond lake Llanquihue to Petrohue to board a following boat crossing Lake Todos Los Santos to Peulla
for an overnight stay in this quaint charming town.
DAY 11: ARRIVE IN BARILOCHE- You continue your trek through the Lake District with a
bus ride over the Continental Divide into Argentina, then cross Lake Frias by boat to finally arrive in
Puerto Blest by bus. Then cruise on Lake Nahuel Huapi to Puerto Panuelo, at last proceed overland to
downtown Bariloche to your hotel.
DAY 12: BARILOCHE TOUR- See the main square & government buildings that have represented
the city's important politics. Just beyond the lake is the Cathedral Mountain for an overview of all
surrounding lakes, hills, & mountains that truly make Bariloche one of the most scenic spots not only in
South America, but the world as well.
DAY 13: FROM BARILOCHE TO BUENOS AIRES- Fly from Bariloche to Buenos Aires in
which you will transfer to your selected hotel. The rest of your evening is left at your leisure.
DAY 14: BUENOS AIRES CITY TOUR- Drive down the widest street in the world, "9th of
July Avenue", past the Colon Opera House to the Plaza de Mayo. The plaza faces the infamous pink
Presidential Palace & National Cathedral, which houses the tomb of the liberator, San Martin. Next,
visit the old port known as the "La Boca" district with its pastel houses & shops; you will have time to
browse through the many diverse shops for souvenirs if desired. The remainder of your day is left is at
your leisure.
DAY 15: TANGO SHOW- This day is completely free to explore on your own. Sip traditional tea
at a local tea shop, or visit one of the estancias in the countryside. This very evening you will enjoy a
typical Argentine beef dinner followed by a folklore show with Tango performances.
DAY 16: BUENOS AIRES TO IGUASSU FALLS- Fly northward to " Iguazu Falls" for a tour
of the mighty falls from the Argentine side. Walk along the river's edge, which is home to a myriad of
semi-tropical flora & faun. Cross small bridges over tiny waterfalls to vista points looking out to the
main part of the falls known as " Devil's Throat". Then take a boat ride out to a catwalk for a close-up
view of the "Devil's Throat". After the tour, transfer to Iguazu National Park in Brazil & stay at the
Tropical Hotel Das Cataratas located right the base of the falls.
DAY 17: IGUASSU FALLS- A full day at leisure, where you will have an opportunity to visit the
falls from the Brazilian vantage point. Here, you will have a magnificent overview of the entire
horseshoe-shaped falls with over 250 separate cataracts.
DAY 18: FROM IGUASSU FALLS TO RIO DE JANEIRO- Transfer to the airport for
your flight to Rio de Janeiro. Transfer upon arrival directly to your hotel of choice. Remainder of the
evening is at your leisure.
DAY 19: WHILE IN RIO- Full-day motorcoach tour to Corcovado, Rio's highest mountain peak,
crowned by the world famous statue of Christ the Redeemer. Take in absolute breath-taking views of
nearly the entire city landscape, then continue on via the scenic route through the Tijuca rain-forest, a
lush tropical mecca of wild flower and plants. Stop for lunch before beginning the two-stage ascent by
cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain. There you will be treated by spectacular views of
Guanabara Bay & Rio de Janeiro.
DAY 20: DEPART RIO- You have almost another full day free in Rio left for shopping,
sightseeing, or just plain relaxing in the sun on your own before a late afternoon transfer back to the
airport.
